Where the Echo Frames win
No camera, no light, nothing to explain and nowhere they are banned for having a lens (some venues ban microphones too — check). Your own optician fits the lenses, which matters for a strong or complex prescription. Six hours of music beats the Ray-Ban's five-hour continuous-audio rating. Five ordinary frame shapes that read as glasses, not tech. And they launched about $110 cheaper.
Where the Ray-Ban wins
Everything with a lens or a battery in it. The camera and Meta AI are a different product category; even if you never use them, they are there. The charging case is the practical win: the glasses top up in a case that carries about 48 hours, versus a stand Tom's Guide called “highly fickle.” Two Wayfarer sizes and two other shapes. Monthly software updates. And Meta's five-mic array is the better call setup by the reviews we cite. On sound quality alone we have no side-by-side measurement and will not invent one; both leak, both are open-ear.
The middle option
A Ray-Ban Meta Skyler bought for audio and worn with the camera unused is a legitimate choice — a lot of owners do it. What it cannot do is pass as camera-free at a security desk, and it still blinks a light if someone bumps the capture button.
