Yes, smart glasses can be prescription — every pair on this site takes one. The catch is that the published ranges differ by frame and are quoted inconsistently, most frames cannot be adjusted by an optician, and lenses usually come only from the maker. This guide puts every range in one table, explains how ordering works, and says where a strong prescription belongs.

How ordering works
- Get a current prescription from an eye exam, with your pupillary distance (PD) on it. Online configurators need the PD; some let you measure it with a phone camera, but the exam figure is better.
- Check the range against your sphere (SPH) and cylinder (CYL). Meta's store is described as quoting a combined sphere-plus-cylinder limit; if you are near any edge, email the seller with your exact numbers.
- Choose lens type and thickness. Ray-Ban offers slim, thin or extra-thin lenses and single-vision or progressive (Android Central); stronger prescriptions want thinner (higher-index) lenses, which cost more.
- Buy from the channel that fits the lenses. Standard Meta frames: Meta or the brand site only — your local optician cannot fit them. Optics frames: optical retailers can. Echo Frames: any optician. Even G2: at order.
- Expect no returns on cut lenses. Try the frame with plain lenses first if fit is uncertain.
Why most smart glasses cannot be adjusted
An optician fits ordinary glasses by bending the temples, adjusting or swapping nose pads and tilting the front. Smart glasses run electronics through the temples and have fixed nose bridges, so there is nothing to bend. That is why the size you order is the size you wear (the fit guide), and why Meta built the Blayzer and Scriber Optics with interchangeable nose pads, over-extension hinges and adjustable temple tips — Meta newsroom's words: “adaptable to your unique face shape for a tailored fit.” Android Central recommends the Optics line for all-day prescription wearers over Meta's own-brand frames, which lack the nose pads.
Progressives and bifocals
Android Central lists single-vision and progressive options in Meta's configurator for Gen 2. No named review has published a progressive-lens test in smart glasses specifically. The camera and any display live in the frame, not the lens, so lens design does not affect them; what matters is the frame's lens height — a progressive needs vertical room, and the Wayfarer Large (44 mm lens height) gives more than the Standard (41 mm) or HSTN (43 mm) per Tom's Guide.
Where a strong prescription should go
Above about -6.00 or +4.00, or with high cylinder: the Blayzer or Scriber Optics (camera) or the Even G2 (display, no camera). Between: the Ray-Ban Gen 2 or Oakley HSTN, confirming with the seller. Mild, or contacts: any pair. The prescription roundup ranks them.
