Best AI Glasses for Men: Five Shapes, and the Widths Behind Them
The electronics are the same in every frame Meta sells, so this cannot be a spec ranking. What actually differs is shape, width and how much the frame announces itself — a Wayfarer, an Oakley, a deliberately chunky transparent frame, a sport wraparound and a round one are five different decisions with the same camera inside. Here they are ranked, with the published millimeters where they exist and an honest note where they do not.

There is no such thing as men's AI glasses
Nobody makes them. A Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer and a Ray-Ban Meta Skyler have the same 12 MP camera, the same five-mic array, the same eight-hour rating and the same software; the difference is the shape of the acetate around them. So “best for men” is a style-and-fit question, which is good news, because style and fit are the two things people actually get wrong when they buy smart glasses online. This page ranks the frames that read as masculine without pretending the hardware differs — and it does the same job as our smart glasses for women page from the other direction.
Three questions, then pick a shape
1. How wide is your head? Smart glasses cannot be heated and bent the way a normal frame can, so the published width is the width you get. Only the Wayfarer comes in a genuine Large — 137 mm hinge to hinge against 131 for the Standard, with 53 mm lenses and 155 mm temples. If store-bought Wayfarers pinch, start at our big heads roundup, which ranks by millimeters.
2. Do you want the glasses to disappear or to be the look? A black Wayfarer Gen 2 disappears. A transparent Sandstone Meta Fury does not, and is not trying to. Both record the same video.
3. Sun only, or all day? The Oakley Vanguard is sunglass-only with no clear lens and no prescription option — brilliant on a run, useless at a desk. Everything else here takes clear, polarized or Transitions lenses.
| Frame | Published width | Sizes | Lens options | The look |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer (Gen 2) | 131 mm Standard / 137 mm Large (Tom's Guide) | Standard and Large | Clear, polarized, Transitions, Rx | The default. Reads as sunglasses, not hardware |
| Oakley Meta HSTN | 133 mm hinge to hinge, 49 mm lens, 145 mm temples, 49 g (Tom's Guide) | One size, between the two Wayfarers | Clear, Transitions, Prizm Ruby / Deep Water / Black / Dark Golf, Rx | Sport-adjacent Oakley, four colorways |
| Meta Fury | Not published | One size | Sun, polarized, Transitions, clear; Rx -6.00 to +2.25 | Deliberately chunky; transparent Sandstone and Racing Green |
| Oakley Meta Vanguard | 66 g; wraparound | One size | Prizm sun only — no clear, no prescription | Unmistakably athletic |
| Ray-Ban Meta Headliner (Gen 2) | Not published | One size, High or Low bridge | Clear, polarized, Transitions, Rx | Round. The least gadget-looking of the Metas |
Why the Wayfarer Gen 2 is still first
Because it is the only frame here that solves the width problem properly and the style problem at the same time. The Large exists, the numbers are published, the lens run covers clear, polarized and Transitions plus a prescription path through Meta or Ray-Ban, and there are 27 frame-and-lens combinations, so there is a version that looks like something you would have bought anyway. The camera is 12 MP with 3K/30 or 1080p/60 and the stabilization Meta introduced on the HSTN, and the battery is rated up to eight hours with about 48 more in the case.
The honest catch is weight and thickness: about 52 grams, and reviewers consistently call the frames thick for all-day wear. That is the price of the camera, the speakers and the battery being in the temples — see our Gen 2 review for how that feels after a few hours.
When the Oakley is the better-looking choice
Android Central's conclusion on Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 versus Oakley Meta HSTN is that the choice is “all down to style” — same hardware, same specs, same features. So the HSTN earns second place on two things the Ray-Ban cannot match: the Prizm lens run, including Prizm Deep Water polarized for water and Prizm Dark Golf added in March 2026, and a one-size 133 mm fit that lands neatly between the Wayfarer Standard and Large. At 49 grams it is also three grams lighter. The trade-off Android Central found is grip: the straight temples hold on less well than a Ray-Ban's during activity.
The bold frame, the sport frame and the round frame
Meta Fury is the one that leans in. Same camera, same 3K video, same eight-hour rating and 40-hour case as the Adventurer, in a thick frame sold in transparent Sandstone and Racing Green as well as Mahogany and black. One size only and the same narrow -6.00 to +2.25 prescription range as the rest of the Meta-brand trio.
Oakley Meta Vanguard is the sport answer and the best camera on this page: a centered 122-degree lens against 100 on everything else, IP67 for sweat and rain, speakers six decibels louder, about nine hours of battery, a built-in nose guard and Garmin stats read aloud. It is 66 grams, Prizm sun only, and has no prescription option — a tool, not a daily frame. Details in the Vanguard review.
Ray-Ban Meta Headliner is the quiet one. A round lens reads less like a gadget on the face than a boxy Wayfarer does, and it is the only Gen 2 style sold with an explicit Low Bridge fit — the fix if a Wayfarer sits on your cheeks. No Large size, and a round lens shows the edge thickness of a strong minus prescription more than a rectangular frame will.
What we left off, and why
The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 launched on September 23, 2026 with an Aviator shape, nine hours of battery, a 50-hour case and a six-mic array — on the same 12 MP / 3K camera as the Gen 2, for $70 more, and with no Amazon listing when we checked on September 24. It is a real option and we cover it in Gen 2 vs Gen 3; it is off this list because the camera is identical and the price is not. The Meta Ray-Ban Display is off it because a $799 screen is a different purchase, covered in the display roundup.

Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer (Gen 2)
Ray-Ban Meta
The default smart glasses: a 12 MP camera with 3K/30 or 1080p/60 video, up to 8 hours per charge with 48 more in the case, 27 frame-and-lens combinations, and a Large size for wider heads.
Best for
Most people buying their first (or second) pair of AI glasses
#1 because it comes in your size. 131 mm Standard or 137 mm Large with 53 mm lenses and 155 mm temples, 27 frame-and-lens combinations, clear, polarized and Transitions options, a prescription path, a 12 MP camera at 3K/30 or 1080p/60 with stabilization, and eight hours rated with a 48-hour case. About 52 grams and thick — that is the honest cost of everything above.
Pros
- 3K video at 30 fps plus a 1080p/60 mode, with the stabilization introduced on Oakley Meta HSTN (Android Central)
- Meta rates up to 8 hours per charge — nearly double Gen 1 — and the case adds about 48 hours; 50% in 20 minutes
- Standard and Large frame sizes; clear, polarized and Transitions lenses; prescription available through Meta or Ray-Ban
- Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, 32 GB (about 500 photos or 100 30-second clips)
Cons
- About 52 g — reviewers call the frames thick and heavy for all-day wear
- Prescription range is narrower than a regular Ray-Ban and is quoted differently by sources (see the prescription guide)
- Camera sensor is unchanged from Gen 1; low-light video is still weak in named reviews

Pick 02 · Camera AI glasses · REF BES-02
Oakley Meta HSTN
Oakley Meta
Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 internals in an Oakley frame: identical 3K camera, 8-hour battery and five-mic array, with Prizm lens options you can't get on a Ray-Ban and a one-size fit that sits between the Wayfarer Standard and Large.
Best for
People who want Gen 2 performance with Oakley styling and Prizm sun lenses
#2 and the same hardware in better lenses. 133 mm one-size fit, 49 mm lenses, 145 mm temples, 49 grams, and the Prizm run — Ruby, Deep Water polarized, Black polarized, Dark Golf — that no Ray-Ban Meta offers. Android Central says the Gen 2 versus HSTN choice is “all down to style”. Second only because the straight temples grip less well when you move.
Pros
- Same hardware, specs and features as Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) — Android Central calls the choice 'all down to style'
- Lens run: clear, Transitions gray or amethyst, Prizm Ruby, Prizm Deep Water polarized, Prizm Black polarized; Prizm Dark Golf added March 2026
- 49 g, 133 mm hinge to hinge, 49 mm lenses, 145 mm temples (Tom's Guide) — one size that fits between the two Wayfarers
- Prescription lenses and tints available
Cons
- Straight temples — Android Central found they stay on less well than the Ray-Bans during burpees and head-tilting sports
- One frame style and four colors versus Ray-Ban's three styles
- Launched $20 above the cheapest Ray-Ban Gen 2

Pick 03 · Camera AI glasses · REF BES-03
Meta Fury
Meta
The intentionally chunky Meta-brand frame — same electronics and 40-hour case as the Adventurer, in transparent Sandstone and Racing Green as well as black — the pair that leans into the thick-frame look instead of hiding it.
Best for
Buyers who like a bold frame and want the Adventurer's hardware in a boxier shape
#3 for the frame that is the point. Identical hardware to the Adventurer — 12 MP, 3K/30 or 1080p/60, eight hours plus a 40-hour case, an action button — in a deliberately thick frame with transparent Sandstone and Racing Green colorways. One size, and a narrow -6.00 to +2.25 prescription range. Third because it is a style pick, and one size fits fewer people.
Pros
- Identical hardware to the Adventurer: 12 MP, 3K/30 or 1080p/60, 8 h + 40 h case, action button (9to5Google)
- Transparent colorways (Sandstone, Racing Green) plus Mahogany and Classic Black
- Listed on Amazon
Cons
- One size only
- Same narrow -6.00 to +2.25 prescription range as the Adventurer
- Heaviest-looking of the Meta-brand trio

Pick 04 · Camera AI glasses · REF BES-04
Oakley Meta Vanguard
Oakley Meta
The sport pair: a centered 122-degree camera, IP67 sweat and water rating, speakers six decibels louder, about nine hours of battery, an action button and a Garmin link — in a 66 g wraparound frame with no clear or prescription lenses.
Best for
Runners, cyclists, skiers and anyone recording in sweat, rain or wind
#4 and the best camera here, for one job. A centered 122-degree 12 MP camera, IP67, speakers six decibels louder than Meta's other glasses, about nine hours of battery, a built-in nose guard that stops it sliding on a sweaty run, and Garmin stats read aloud. 66 grams, Prizm sun only, no clear lens and no prescription — which is why it is fourth on a style list and first on a sport one.
Pros
- 122° field of view versus 100° on Ray-Ban Gen 2 and HSTN, with the camera centered over the nose (UploadVR)
- 3K/30 and 1080p/60 for up to 3 minutes per clip, 1080p/30 for up to 5, 720p/120 slow motion; hyperlapse; three stabilization levels
- IP67 — handles sweat and rain (not swimming); about 9 hours typical use; speakers six decibels louder than other Meta glasses
- Built-in nose guard keeps the frame from sliding on sweaty runs; Garmin watch stats read aloud via Meta AI (Android Central review)
Cons
- 66-67 g — reviewers say you feel the weight if you wear them too long
- Prizm sun lenses only; no clear lens, and no prescription option at launch — not an indoor or nighttime pair
- Portrait-only photos and weak low-light video, like every Meta pair

Pick 05 · Camera AI glasses · REF BES-05
Ray-Ban Meta Headliner (Gen 2)
Ray-Ban Meta
The round-lens Gen 2, sold in High- and Low-bridge fits rather than sizes — the pair to pick if a Wayfarer sits on your cheeks.
Best for
Oval or angular faces, and low-bridge fits
#5 for the least gadget-looking Meta. Same Gen 2 electronics, lenses and prescription path as the Wayfarer in a round frame, sold in High and Low bridge fits rather than sizes — the only Gen 2 style with an explicit low-bridge option. No Large, and round lenses show a strong prescription's edge thickness. Fifth because it solves bridge fit, not head width.
Pros
- Low-bridge version is listed on Amazon — the only Gen 2 style with an explicit low-bridge fit
- Same electronics, lenses and prescription path as the Wayfarer
- Rounder shape reads less like a gadget on the face
Cons
- No Large size
- Round lenses show a strong prescription's edge thickness more than a rectangular frame

Buying guide
Which shape, by what is bothering you
Frames pinch at the temples — Wayfarer Large, 137 mm. Frames slide down your nose — Headliner Low Bridge, or the Vanguard if the context is sport. Frames sit on your cheeks — Headliner, round and shallower. You want sunglasses you would have bought anyway — Wayfarer Gen 2 in a polarized or Transitions lens. You want Oakley lenses — HSTN. You want people to notice — Fury in transparent Sandstone.
The lens decision matters more than the frame
Most buyers pick a frame and default the lens, then discover they own sunglasses they cannot wear indoors. Transitions is the one-pair answer and it has real caveats: it will not darken properly behind a car windscreen, and it takes time to clear. Sunglasses vs clear lenses and Transitions lenses explained cover it, and the prescription guide lists every current diopter range — which is the one number that can rule a frame out entirely.
Two accessories worth buying with any of these
A retainer strap, if you picked the Vanguard or you run. A microfiber cloth, because the camera window is exactly where your fingers land and a smeared lens looks like a broken camera. Both are in the accessories guide, along with the hard case worth having if the glasses live in a bag.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are there AI glasses made for men?
No maker sells a men's-only model — the electronics are identical across frames in a family. What varies is shape, width, weight and lens options. In practice the frames most often shopped as men's are the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer (including the 137 mm Large), the Oakley Meta HSTN and Vanguard, and the thicker Meta Fury.
Which AI glasses fit a wider face?
The Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Large: 137 mm hinge to hinge against 131 mm for the Standard, with 53 mm lenses and 155 mm temples. The Oakley Meta HSTN's one size measures 133 mm, between the two. Meta Adventurer also comes in a Large, though Meta does not publish its millimeters.
Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta?
Android Central's verdict is that between the Gen 2 and the HSTN the choice is “all down to style” — same hardware and specs. Pick the Oakley for the Prizm lens run and a 133 mm one-size fit, the Ray-Ban for three shapes, 27 colorways and a genuine Large. Pick the Vanguard only if the use is sport.
Which AI glasses look the least like technology?
The round Ray-Ban Meta Headliner and a plain black Wayfarer Gen 2 in a polarized lens. All Meta frames are thicker than their non-smart equivalents because the camera, speakers and battery live in the temples, so nothing here disappears completely — the round shape simply draws less attention than a boxy one.
Can AI glasses take my prescription?
Most can. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 frames take a prescription through Meta or Ray-Ban, the HSTN takes prescription lenses and tints, and the Meta-brand Fury and Adventurer cover -6.00 to +2.25. The Oakley Meta Vanguard has no prescription option at all. Ranges differ by frame, so check ours before you order.
